The March 1st Day of Action for Education is going to be an epic day for the State of Public Education! And now, it is our calling to relive history! We will join our fellow campuses across the nation, celebrating public education, and demanding change!

What a day we will be having at Humboldt State University! From Noon till 1:00 pm, a fantastic line up of speakers will be exciting the student base in the Quad. Speakers will touch on art, education, and the current state of social inequality!

National Occupy Day in Support of Prisoners!

Posted by Occupy Humboldt, February 12, 2012

We will be rallying and marching on Monday beginning at noon.  We are 70 miles south of Pelican Bay State Prison, and hoping folks on the outside will also take action up there that day.

One of the blessings of Occupy Eureka (now 130+ days 24/7) is the friendly and understanding presence for folks who get spit out of the jail at all hours of day and night, in all states of mind and with or without enough clothing for the weather.  We are making the postcards because we want people inside to know that we are protesting in solidarity outside, and that it is happening all over.

National Day of Action On College Campuses! March 1st!

Posted on February 6 by Occupy Humboldt

A local student activist and revolutionary artist of Occupy Humboldt at HSU has released a media kit that can help bring color and positive imagery to the upcoming March 1st action, and beyond! The kit, which comes in a .zip file and can be downloaded in the right hand column at the top of the page, includes media for the upcoming March 1st Day of Action at college campuses across the nation, as well as the Occupy the Education System poster, the 'Leviathan' graphic, and the dreaded 1% Fat Cat stickers.

This media has been created in the spirit of revolutionary and anti-copyright ideologies, and all are encouraged to use this art without attribution to it's source. Spread the word, tweet the word, 'Like' the word, and don't forget to speak the word.

Another way of spreading awareness of the March 1st action, is to go to OccupyColleges.org and publicly sign your college up for 'action' on that day.

Powerfully and sincerely, OccupyHumboldt.org

Occupy Humboldt at HSU Makes the NY Times!

Posted on January 2012, by Occupy Humboldt

We are excited to report that Occupy Humboldt at HSU was featured in a New York times article on student activism inspired via 'Occupy'. While it is important that student activism is receiving a national audience, it is time to take our action to the next level, 'Occupy CSU Phase II'. Students, alumni, and other community members are working on addressing the systematic failures which continue to plague California students, as well as future students.

We are taking notes, we are paying attention, and everyday we are being pushed closer to the precipice. Now it is time to push back. Let us take a page from the radical actions at UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UC Riverside.

Read about student activism in the NY Times.

#J20 - Occupy the Courts From NY to Humboldt, CA

Posted on January 15, 2012, by Occupy Humboldt

Occupy the Courtwill be a one day occupation of Federal courthouses across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., on Friday January 20, 2012.

Move to Amend volunteers and Occupations across the country will lead the charge on the judiciary which created — and continues to expand — corporate personhood rights.

Americans across the country are on the march, and they are marching OUR way. They carry signs that say, “Corporations are NOT people! Money is NOT Speech!” And they are chanting those truths at the top of their lungs! The time has come to make these truths evident to the courts.

JOIN US January 20, 2012 at the Eureka U.S. District Court at 514 H Street (at corner of H and 5th) from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm and make your voices heard.

You can read a more in depth explanation and corporate history of Citizens United vs. The Federal Election Commission here.

For more ‘How To’ information including making freeway banners, costumes, etc. please see here.

EDIT 1/17/2012: Occupy Court Support! Occupiers in both Garberville and Eureka have court dates on January 20th, which just happens to be the day of the nationwide Occupy the Courts action. Requests have been made by both Occupy SoHum and Occupy Eureka to have community and Occupy support at these hearing. Our judicial system needs to know that Occupy has public support.

Where: Garberville Courthouse

When: 10:00 am

Why: A Garberville protestor was arrested in 2011 while 'Occupying' on the bridge over the 101. Signs were confiscated.

Where: Eureka Courthouse

When: 8:00 am

Why: Occupy Eureka protestors have been having court hearings almost daily.

EDIT 1/16/2012: On January 20th, Occupiers will be meeting at the County Courthouse from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, at which time we will march to the Move to Amend site as a large Occupy Unit.

 Occupy Humboldt 2.0 - Reoccupying January 16

Posted on January 15, 2012, by Occupy Humboldt

Occupy Humboldt will be making our 2012 debut, on January 16, 2012, when we will retake the Clock Tower commons at HSU. The Occupy Humboldt action at HSU consists of both student and non-student participants from the community. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in this forward thinking action.

Occupy Humboldt supports grassroots education, direct action, and solidarity with the Nation Occupy Movement. The first step in fighting back is learning what we're fighting against. It is our duty to be aware.

Looking forward to sharing a revolutionary 2012 with y'all.

Peace,
Occupy Humboldt

Occupy Humboldt is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. We Occupy in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Eureka, Occupy Arcata, and the Humboldt County General Assembly.

The one thing we all have in common is that we are the 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants. Before #OWS, this tactic was used in mass tent demonstrations throughout Israel and Spain, as well as other European countries.

The #OWS movement empowers real people to create real change from the bottom up. We want to see a general assembly in every backyard, on every street corner because we don't need Wall Street, albeit on the East Coast or the West Coast, and we don't need politicians to build a better society.
